Medicare Education

Understanding Medicare is a challenge for most people. There are so many options and so many different rules and regulations that make Medicare confusing to people. My Medicare 101 classes are for anyone who needs help understanding their Medicare insurance and benefit options. During the class we cover Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, how to avoid costly penalties, how to enroll in a Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plan or a Medicare Supplemental Plan (Medigap) options and much more.

Help enrolling in Medicare

Some people get Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) automatically when they turn 65 and other people have to signup for it. In most cases it depends on whether you’re getting Social Security benefits. Enrolling in Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) at age 65 is optional depending on whether or not you have other credible health insurance coverage. Enrolling in Medicare at the right time matters as you will pay a late enrollment penalty for as long as you have Medicare if you fail to enroll when you are first eligible.

I can help you understand Medicare’s enrollment rules and help you through the process of enrolling in Medicare Part A and Part B at the right time.

Help Paying for your Medicare Premiums

If you can’t afford to pay for your Medicare Part B and Part D premiums for needed healthcare services don’t despair.  Help is available for people with limited incomes who need help paying their premiums, deductibles and copays through the State of Hawaii’s Medicaid program (Quest Integration) or through the federally funded Medicare Savings Program.

Additionally, if you have or are eligible for Medicaid, you may be eligible for a Medicare Advantage Plan with a $0.00 cost premium that provides additional services critical to your health and well-being that are beyond that provided by Quest Integration (Medicaid). These additional services include dental, hearing, vision services, Over-the-Counter Items and more.

If you qualify for Quest Integration (Medicaid), you can get help from the State of Hawaii paying your Medicare premiums.  If you are not qualified you may however qualify for the federally funded “Medicare Savings Program” which will cover your Medicare Part B premium.

I can help guide you through the process of applying for Quest Integration (Medicaid) and the Medicare Savings Program.

Help Enrolling in a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) which includes prescription drug coverage or a Medicare Supplement Plan (Medigap) and a Prescription Drug Plan (Part D)

Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) covers about 80% of your health care costs with no maximum out-of-pocket or prescription drug benefit. This means you are responsible for about 20% of your medical bills. There are health insurance options to help you cover your 20% share of your medical expenses not paid for by Original Medicare.

As a Medicare advisor, with an understanding your insurance needs, I can help you evaluate all of your Medicare insurance options to find you the Medicare insurance plan that is just right for you.

After becoming a policy holder, you do not have to go it alone.  I will support you with your claim research and resolution, drug exceptions, Medicare appeals, annual rate shopping and much more at absolutely no cost to you, as there is never a fee for my services.
