Medicare Annual Enrollment

Now is the time to start preparing for Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period.  If what you have is not fully satisfying your healthcare needs, you can reevaluate your Medicare health insurance coverage and make a change to your current Medicare Advantage plan.

During the Annual Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period you can:

  1. Drop your Medicare Advantage plan (Part C) and switch back over to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). You’ll still need a Medicare Prescription Drug plan (Part D).

  2. Move from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription drug coverage and may offer additional benefits for vision, hearing and dental and more.

  3. You drop your current plan and switch to a new Medicare Advantage Plan. Not all Medicare Advantage plans are equal. Each plan has its own costs and benefits. Look at the “Summary of Benefits” for each plan you are considering and switch to the plan that is a best fit for your needs, all things considered.

  4. Drop your Medicare Advantage (Part C) and switch back to Original Medicare and buy Medicare Supplement (Medigap) insurance along with a stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D).

  5. You can change your stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D). Part D formularies can change from year to year. It pays to see if there is a cheaper plan that covers your prescription needs.
